The service is operational Monday to Friday 18:00 – 08:00 and 24 hours Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays

Urgent family Doctor Out of Hour’s Service
Nursing staff will handle approximately 100,000 calls to the service in 2019.
The nurse will be the first point of professional contact for patients, providing nurse telephone triage and advice within protocols and guidelines
Triage Nurse must:
Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including sufficient command of the English language so as to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role.
Demonstrate a commitment to providing a quality service.
Demonstrate effective analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Demonstrate practitioner competence and professionalism in order to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role.
Demonstrate evidence-based clinical knowledge in making decisions regarding client care.

Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organising skills.
Demonstrate the ability to build and maintain relationships including the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Demonstrate evidence of ability to empathise with and treat patients, relatives and colleagues with dignity and respect.
Demonstrate an awareness of legislation and standards relevant to the role.
Demonstrate depth and breadth of experience working in at least one of the following areas: Accident & Emergency Dept., Paediatrics, Practice Nursing, Midwifery or Telephone Triaging as relevant to the role.
