Staff Nurse required for Dept of Public Health East Dublin 8 for home and office-based work

  • Full time position
  • Combination of working from home and in the office
  • Duties include;

Professional Responsibilities

  • Practice Nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct
  • Adhere to national, regional and local Health Service Executive (HSE) guidelines, policies, protocols and legislation
  • Work within their scope of practice and take measures to develop and maintain the competence necessary for professional practice
  • Maintain a high standard of professional behaviour and be accountable for their practice
  • Be aware of ethical policies and procedures which pertain to their area of practice
  • Promote a culture that values diversity and respect in the workplace, and ensure that service users and others are treated with dignity and respect 
  • Maintain nursing records in accordance with local service and professional standards
  • Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics and legislation including GDPR.
  • Observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter which may be detrimental to health and well being of service users and colleagues.


Clinical Practice

  • The Staff Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to the highest professional and ethical standards within the model of nursing care practiced in the relevant care setting.
  • The staff nurse will provide holistic, person centred care, promoting optimum independence and enhancing the quality of life for service users.
  • Employing  highly effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills to maximise the theraptic relationships and deliver patient centered care,
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team and the governance structure of the service;
  • Liaise with other health service providers in the development and on-going delivery of a health protection service and model of care.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of control and preventative health measures
  • Maintain appropriate and accurate records and reports regarding client care in accordance with local / national / professional standards
  • Participate in the collection, analysis and interpretation of surveillance data in a timely manner e.g. enhanced surveillance forms for Computerised Infectious Disease Reporting (CIDR)
  • Participate in the development of policies and protocols in collaboration with  nursing management and wider MDT for health protection response
  • Develop and promote good interpersonal relationships with service users, colleagues from organisations Primary Care (including GP’s), Secondary, Private  Care organisations, public and other health care professionals  in the promotion of person centred care
  • Report and consult with the wider senior Public Health management team on clinical issues as appropriate
  • Participate in innovation and change in the approach to patient care delivery particularly in relation to new research findings, evidence based practice and advances in treatment
  • Participate in clinical audit and review, on-going monitoring, audit and evaluation of the service as appropriate 
  • Promote a positive health concept with patients and colleagues and contribute to health promotion and disease prevention initiatives of the HSE
  • Delegate to and supervise the work of other grades of staff within the remit of the role, as appropriate
  • Demonstrate flexibility by rotating / assisting in other health care services as appropriate required to meet nursing resource needs and service delivery
