RPN required for Louth/ Meath CAMHS ID services:
- GRADE: RPN.
- Ideal candidate would be a mental health registered nurse (RPN) with experience of working with children with an intellectual disability and co-morbid mental health disorder.
- The agency nurse is required for 2 days per week to manage physical monitoring clinics for children on medication prescribed by the CAMHS ID Consultant.
- Clinics are run 2 days per week (Tuesday and Thursday) in the Children Disability Network Teams (CDNT) facilities in Navan, Kells, Dundalk & Drogheda.
- The nurse would need to be available to work in all these locations.
- Access to own car essential
- The locations are likely to change each week depending on the caseload in each area at any one time.
The role of the agency nurse in these clinics is as follows;
- Complete baseline weight, height & vital signs (Blood pressure and pulse) for any child being considered for commencement of medication by the CAMHS ID Consultant. Plot weight & height on centile charts.
- Ongoing physical monitoring as per best practice standards for children prescribed medication by the CAMHS ID Consultant - weight, height (centiles), blood pressure, pulse, and side effects monitoring (as per standard guidelines).
- Be available to take phone calls from parents in relation to prescribed medication, clarify the question and bring the concern to the Consultant for response.
- All phone calls should be through admin in the first instance and only be passed onto the nurse when it is clear it is in relation to medication prescribed.
